Happy Birthday Kaylee

On Sunday, Eli and I went to Kaylee's 2nd birthday party (Kaylee is my cousin's daughter). Eli and Kaylee had a wonderful time playing together. The got along so well and played for almost three hours. Happy Birthday, Kaylee!

Eli loves playing with other people's toys!
While Kaylee was opening her presents, Eli marched around the room with several of the presents to show everyone.
Eli had to try out Carson's bumbo seat....it worked pretty well until it was time to get out! : ) Carson is Kaylee's new baby brother.
Eli LOVED riding the horse!!

Yummy

Eli was so excited that I let him try to eat a bite of a corny dog. I don't think he ate any of it, but he enjoyed holding it and trying to eat it!

Sweet Potatos

Today was a crazy day! This morning on our way to the La Leche League Toddler Meeting, Eli and I were in a car accident. We were stopped behind a stalled car and another car hit us from behind. The loud sound and the impact scared Eli so much! He immediately started crying which made me start crying. : ( Thankfully, no one was hurt, but it was scary for both of us.

On to the sweet potatos.....I have been trying new recipes from the book YOU on a Diet. The recipes are SO good and very healthy. Tonight we had Lemon Caper Chicken with Sweet Potato Puree. Hunter and I thought it was very yummy, but Eli wasn't a fan of the sweet potatos. I was feeding them to him (they were pretty soft so he couldn't pick them up) and the second they touched his mouth he made the funniest faces. Check out the pictures! : )

Check out all his teeth in this picture! He actually only has 6 teeth, but this makes it look like he has a mouth full.

Water!

While Hunter was working in the yard today, Eli enjoyed playing with the water hose. After all the playing, he was soaked!

Playing in the backyard

Eli loves playing outside! If I open the back door, he runs out into the yard.

After all the playing, Eli likes to relax in the rocking chairs on the front porch.

The Ocean

Hunter showed Eli how to hold a seashell to his ear so he can hear the ocean. Here he is doing it on his own.....he's a little off, but good try, Eli!

Something stinks! : )

Eli has been holding his nose alot lately. I'm not sure how he picked this up....Hunter thinks he saw me trying to pop my ears on our recent flight to Little Rock. Maybe, but it's really embarrassing when he looks at someone or food someone has cooked for him (oh yes...he did this!) and then holds his nose! : )

Quick Thought

I am reading "Parenting - From Surviving to Thriving" by Chuck Swindoll and ran across this paragraph today.

We receive our children from the hand of God, not as soft, pliable lumps of clay, ready to be molded into what we think they should become. Each child comes with a set of abilities, intellectual capacity, and a way of perceiving and thinking, all of which were endowed by God. We can surely influence and even mold them to a certain extent, but our efforts have limits. On the one hand, if parents ignore or discourage a talent, it may never emerge. On the other hand, if parents cultivate a talent, it will likely become a part of the child.

I found this to be a great reminder so I thought I'd share.

We have tomatos!

Eli and I planted some tomato plants at the beginning of April. We have been watching them grow every day. A couple of days ago we noticed that we have some tomatos!!! We are so excited and can't wait to watch them turn red! Eli has really enjoyed taking care of the plants...he helps water them almost every day! : )

Bunnies

Eli and I see bunnies running in our yard all the time. We've discovered that at least one lives in our backyard behind one of the A/C units. Several times a day, we go outside to check on the bunnies. It is so cute how Eli peeks around the corner of the house to see if the bunny is there.

Our "pet" bunny....we named him Peter.

Today during one of the bunny checks, Eli took off across the backyard in his socks!
If you look closely at this picture, you can see Eli's two front teeth. They are almost all the way in!
When it's time to go inside, Eli loves trying to get the door open....it won't be long!

All Done!

Eli has started throwing his food to indicate that he is done eating. Tonight, when I told him not to throw his food, he decided to start putting it on his head. I think he thought he was hiding it. Ahhhhh, the joys of having a toddler! : )

Copycat

A few weeks ago we saw on a friend's blog where he stuffed things in his ball popper every night. Well, I guess Eli wanted to give that a try. Today when we tried to play with the ball popper, it would not work. This is what we found.....a bottle of bubbles was stuffed down in it.

Happy 60th!

Last night we celebrated Ga-Ga's (my Dad) birthday. We enjoyed a nice dinner and some yummy cake!

Ga-Ga received some cool gifts....including an iPod!!!
Eli had a couple of bites of cake and a big glass of milk. Eli wants to do everything himself (no help and no baby/toddler stuff) including drinking from a cup with no lid. He did very well with the cup, but did spill some on his highchair.
